WRITING 1 EXERCISE 5 UNIT 2

Yesterday afternoon I was grading some exams when I received an e-mail from my friend Kathy, who lives in California. I was very happy because I hadn’t talked to her in two weeks. I opened the e-mail and it was bad news as she wasn’t doing well on her job. So, I got sad as I know how excited she was with her new position. I was also surprised because she is a very hard-working person. After that, I decided to call her but she didn’t answer the phone and I really wanted to give her words of encouragement. 

(Ayer en la tarde estaba calificando algunos exámenes cuando recibí un correo electrónico de mi amiga Kathy, quien vive en California. Me sentí muy feliz porque no había hablado con ella en dos semanas. Abrí el correo electrónico y fueron malas noticias puesto que no le estaba yendo bien en su trabajo. Entonces, me puse triste porque sé lo emocionada que estaba con su nuevo puesto de trabajo. También me sorprendió porque ella es una persona muy trabajadora. Después de eso, decidí llamarla pero ella no contestó el teléfono y de verdad quería darle palabras de aliento.)

MY FAVORITE MOVIES

These are my top 5 favorite superhero movies:

1 Wonder Woman

2 The Dark Knight Rises

3 Black Panther

4 Avengers

5 X2: X-Men United

In my opinion they are the best because of the action sequences and their characters development. X-Men 2 is number 5 because all of us can relate to its story of discrimination. However, I think Avengers is funnier and has better and bigger fights, and for that reason is number 4.  On the other hand, Black Panther also has a lot of action and doesn’t take itself too seriously but for me it features more realistic characters and that gives to it position number 3. Unfortunately, Black Panther also has a lot of cliché and because of that I think Dark Knight Rises is smarter, and crawls to position 2.  Finally, Wonder Woman is the best movie as it has brighter and more outstanding fights, and the most moving scenes.

Estas son mis 5 mejores películas de superhéroes favoritas:

1 Mujer Maravilla

2 Batman: El Caballero de la Noche Asciende

3 Pantera Negra

4 Los Vengadores

5 X-Men 2

En mi opinión, son las mejores debido a las secuencias de acción y al desarrollo de sus personajes. X-Men 2 es el número 5 porque todos podemos relacionarnos con su historia de discriminación. Sin embargo, creo que Los Vengadores es más divertida y tiene mejores y más grandes peleas, y por esa razón es la número 4. Por otra parte, Pantera Negra también tiene mucha acción y no se toma demasiado en serio a sí misma, pero para mí presenta personajes más realistas y eso le da la posición número 3. Desafortunadamente, Pantera Negra también tiene muchos clichés y por eso creo que Batman: El Caballero de la Noche Asciende es más inteligente, y se arrastra a la posición 2. Finalmente, Mujer Maravilla es la mejor película porque tiene peleas más brillantes y resaltables, y las escenas más conmovedoras.)
